Best Student Game Awards 2026 trophy contest

We invite students and emerging creators to take part in a unique competition to design the official trophy for the Best Student Game Awards 2026.

This is your chance to create a symbol that will represent excellence in student game development and be presented to the most outstanding teams from around the world.

About the competition

The goal of the competition is to select the best design for the official festival trophy. The winning project will be produced and awarded during SGF 2026.

The competition is open, one-stage, and international.

The winner of the competition will receive a cash prize of €500, and their project will be produced.

Who can participate

  • Students of any field of study

  • Active student status required at the time of submission

  • Individuals only (one project per participant)

What to design

Participants are asked to design the Best Student Game Awards 2026 trophy, which should:

  • Reflect the identity, mission, and visual language of the festival

  • Take the form of a 3D object designed to sit on a shared base featuring the award name and SGF logo

  • Include 4 variations, corresponding to 4 award categories

  • Form a coherent series, while differing in detail, form, or symbolic elements

Design freedom & production

  • The form, style, and material are open

  • Possible techniques include (but are not limited to): 3D printing, ceramics, wood sculpture, and other production methods

  • The design must be feasible for real-world production in multiple copies

  • Approximate height: ~20 cm

  • The project must be original and production-ready

Submission requirements

Each entry must include:

  • Visual representation (render, sketch, or 3D visualization)

  • Brief description of materials and production method

  • Dimensions (in cm)

  • Concept explanation (max 1 A4 page)

Submissions are accepted via the online form. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Evaluation criteria

Projects will be assessed based on:

  • artistic and aesthetic quality

  • originality and innovation of the concept

  • consistency with the festival’s visual identity

  • connection to games and the spirit of game development

  • production feasibility and cost awareness

  • material selection and awareness

  • quality and clarity of documentation

  • ergonomics and functionality

  • Submission deadline: 30.06.2026, 23:59

  • Results announcement: 15.07.2026
